Captain Chris Seals South Success

Talented St. Michael`s C.C. youngster Chris Brockwell of Georgetown, Dumfries led the South of Scotland under-13 team to an outstanding victory against the East of Scotland at Pollok Park, Glasgow last Thursday. Playing in the national District championships as Captain of the South squad, it was Chris` own performances with bat and ball that helped the South to achieve their first victory in three years over an East selection containing players from many of Scotland`s public schools.

Bowling left-arm spin, Brockwell first played a major role in restricting the opposition to 153-9, taking 3-21 off his eight overs. There then followed a well-timed run chase in which the South managed an impressive 157-2, with Chris hitting a final four to take the match and finish on an undefeated 79 not out.

After the game young Chris said, “I was especially pleased with my batting against the East as I did not give a single chance until right at the end when I had already scored over 70.” Understandably, he now goes on to represent Scotland in the under-13 European Championships which take place this week.
