Under 11's Reports

We lost a close game against Galloway by nine runs in wet conditions at Castle Douglas last Saturday.

Dylan decided to bat first and Chris Lumb got three great wickets in his first over, almost taking a hat trick. The ball was very slippery in the wet conditions, but Hayley got two good wickets, bowling their best batsman, and Gazi and Brodie got people out bowled too.

Stuey had a very good game behind the stumps for the first ten overs, but after that there were more wides and we again missed some good run out chances and a couple of catches. Unfortunately, they hit three fours in the last two overs to finish on 95 - 8.

Connor was unlucky to be hit on the finger first ball of our innings and had to retire hurt for a while. We lost three wickets to some good bowling, but after that the batting was pretty solid.

Dylan, Chris and Gazi were all involved in good partnerships, but at the end Gazi and Brodie just could not get the runs fast enough to secure victory and we were 86 - 5 after the twenty overs.

There was a lot to be pleased about in this performance on a difficult pitch, and the result could have gone either way.

The Under 11's played their first fixture against Dumfries Z on Sunday 10th June.

Gazi Mohammed got offTeam Photo minus Connor to a great start, taking two wickets in his first over and Chris Lumb got two early stumpings. Four of the first Dumfries batters were out for ducks as Dylan Muir got two more wickets, but they did much better later on. We bowled too many wides and no balls and so they ended up with 73 - 9.

Unfortunately Stuey Forsyth and Chris Lumb got out early but Liam Crosby started carefully and made 13 including two fours. Dylan Muir got a few runs and Ross Fergusson and Stuey were not out at the end. But too many people got bowled by straight balls so we could only manage 52 - 9.

The next games are is against Dumfries A on Sunday 17th June.
