St Michael's Cricket Club

Picture of Macleod PavilionSt Michael’s Cricket Club, based at Kingholm Park, Dumfries in South West Scotland was established in its current form in 1952. Our current constitution states:

“St Michael’s Cricket Club aims to promote cricket as a mass participation sport and make it fun, safe and accessible for all those who wish to play cricket regardless of age, sex, or playing ability.”

In 2010 Queensberry St Michael’s First XI won the Western District Cricket Union (WDCU) Division 2 and played in the WDCU Premiership for the last three seasons, narrowly missing promotion to the Scottish National Cricket League in 2011 and 2012. Our Second XI, AC Guitars Kingholm, play in the WDCU Premiership Reserve, last season finishing in the top half of the final table. We also have the John Walker & Son T20 side playing in the John Henderson & Son Midweek League, and the John Pagan & Son Sunday XI, who this season will offering a programme of friendly fixtures with other local clubs.

During the season senior practices are on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6.00 pm at Kingholm Park. All new players are welcome and can compete for the chance to play 100 over Saturday cricket for our main League teams or in the less demanding 80 over Sunday fixtures.

The Club is very proud to have achieved both Dumfries & Galloway Sports Club and Cricket Scotland TOPClub (Active Award) accreditation. The Under 16 SquadSports Club Accreditation Scheme, run by Dumfries & Galloway Leisure and Sport is an effective way to demonstrate to parents, schools and the wider community that St Michael’s Cricket Club has achieved nationally recognised standards in junior coaching and child protection.

We believe strongly in the importance of promoting youth cricket and offer every opportunity for young players to progress to higher levels.

Currently St Michael's Cricket Club subscriptions for adult players are set at 60 a year (concessions available for students, juniors, unemployed and non-playing members). For full details see our subscription page.

At the start of the 2011 season, Saints installed a new cricket square at Kingholm Park with the expert help of Simpson & Partners. The club would like to thank Dumfries and Galloway Council for their support in making this happen. During 2013, extensive drainage works were undertaken to improve the outfield and we have recently installed a new double bay practice net.
